A small history of Italian Fashion
When you are talking about fashion and clothing designing houses, a few names come to mind and Italy is, of course, on top of the list, The truth is that the Italians must have been born with arts in their blood, as most of their history and culture revolves around art and famous artists. Many times the Italian people will even sacrifice practicality in favor of beauty, and this can be easily seen when it comes to their products (the Italian cars are a very good example). When it comes to looking good, the Italians are very strict and this implies a perfectly fitted outfit, a perfect hair, teeth and skin. Anything less then perfect is not welcomed in Italy when it comes to fashion.
So it should not come as a big surprise that some of the world’s largest fashion designers are Italian (starting with one of the pioneers of modern fashion, Elsa Schiaparelli, and reaching to the modern prince of extravagance, Roberto Cavalli). Throughout their history Italy has set the new trends in fashion and many of the innovations have been born in this country. Names like Valentino, Brioni and Zegna, Armani and Versace are famous worldwide for their fashion setting trends and this is explained partially by their constant search for perfection when it comes to fashion, arts and beauty.
Of course no list with famous Italian fashion designers should be complete without mentioning names such as Prada, Missoni, Ferragamo, Ferre, Bottega Veneta, Damiani and Bvlgari. These names are always present in fashion shows al over the world and many of their creations have remained famous throughout the years. They have actually written the fashion industry’s history and following their footsteps can lead you through a very beautiful and interesting insight into the fashion industry.
But Italy is not famous only for its luxurious brands. Names such as Zara are associated with beauty in fashion for everybody, as their products are superbly manufactured, but carry very accessible prices. Many Hollywood masters have resorted to Italian fashion designers for the costumes in their films and many famous actresses and actors have been seen wearing Italian outfits on the red carpet. The Italian sense of beauty and fashion can only be achieved through a tradition of seduction and refinement handed down through generations. In Italy fashion is almost a national passion, and you can often see the latest trends at piazzas, restaurants and streets.
